Spent a day debugging a WebSocket that connected twice. React 18 Strict Mode mounts components twice in dev to surface missing cleanups. Returning a cleanup function that closes the socket fixed it. Strict Mode was right all along 😅

I'm a UI/UX designer. Should I learn HTML/CSS properly? Will it help me get product design roles?

No more focus-trap libraries for simple cases. Put `inert` on the main content when a modal opens and the browser handles keyboard focus and screen readers. Supported in all modern browsers now.

No big project needed: 1. Every icon button gets an aria-label 2. Never remove focus outlines without replacing them 3. Check contrast of your grey placeholder text (it's probably failing) 4. Form inputs need real s 5. Test one flow with only the keyboard Around 2.2% of Indians have a disability by census numbers, and the real number is higher. Our checkout page was slow on mid-range Android phones, which is most of our users. What actually moved the needle: 1. Moved payment SDK loading after first paint (was blocking: 900 ms) 2. Server-rendered the cart summary instead of fetching on the client 3. Replaced a 180 KB date library with Intl APIs 4. Preloaded

Hey everyone 👋 This is a space for people who build things in the browser. Post your work, ask for reviews, share weird CSS bugs. To kick things off: what's one frontend tool or library you started using this year that you'd recommend?
